5th T20i : Ishan's 42 balls century followed by Arshdeep's 5 for powered India to out-played New Zealand by 46 runs and won series 4-1

5th T20i match of five twenty20 match series between India vs New Zealand at Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram on Saturday, January 31, 2026.

Opting to bat first, India with top orders excellent batting set huge target of 272 runs for New Zealand to get. Abhishek 16 balls 30 runs, Ishan's quick and superb 43 balls 103 runs, Suryakumar's firing 30 balls 63 runs and Hardik's quick 17 balls 42 runs were highlights of India inning. India smashed 23 sixes with high quality batting. Fergison with 2 for 41 was top bowler for New Zealand.

Following huge target of 272 runs, New Zealand team all out scoring 225 runs in 19.4 overs and lost the match by 46 runs. Finn Allen played well and smashed 80 runs of just 38 balls. Rachin with 17 balls 30 and Ish Sodhi with 15 balls 33 runs were other top scorers for NZ. Arshdeep was expensive initially in first spell but claimed 5 wickets of 51 runs. Axar also took 3 wickets. Ishan declared man of the match for his quick century. India won 5-match series 4-1 as well.
