2nd ODI : Joe Root's sensible 99* runs and Archer & Atkinson's 3 wickets each helps England to win over India by 4 wickets

2nd Oneday match of three odi match series will be played between England vs India at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff on Thursday, July 16, 2026.

Putting into bat first, India with Virat Kohli's 66 and Shreyas Iyer's 65 runs managed to set 234 runs target for England to get. Jofra Archer and Gus Atkinson shared 3 wickets each. Saqib Mahmood also picked up 2 wickets for England as well.

Following 234 runs, England lost Duckett on very 1st ball of inning. Joe Root came in and took the charge in hand confidently. He bated till end contributing valuable unbeaten 99 runs and presented England easy win by 4 wickets with 35 balls remaining. Will Jacks with 30 was other top scorer for England. Gurnoor Brar with 2 for 67 was top bowler for India. Root declared man of the match. 3-match ODI series level 1-1 as well.
