1st ODI : Shubman's 80, Washington's 52* and Axar's 57* runs & 4 wickets powered India to knees down England by 6 wickets

1st Oneday match of three odi match series will be played between England vs India at Edgbaston, Birmingham on Tuesday, July 14, 2026.

Opting to bat first, England after good start in first 10 overs were 107/6 in 22nd over. Joe Root and Liam Dawson took charge in hand and played excellent cricket in middle overs. Liam Dawson made well 68 runs and Joe Root contributed superb 76 unbeaten run and helps England to set good target of 259 runs for India to get. Axar Patel with 4 for 62 was top bowler. Prasidh Krishna and Gurnoor Brar also shared 2 wickets each for India as well.

Following 259 runs, India with Shubman Gill's 80 runs, Washington Sundar's 52* runs and Axar Patel's 57* runs made chase easily in 45.2 overs and won the match comprehensively by 6 wickets margin. Axar Patel declared man of the match for his 4 wickets and 57 unbeaten runs. India led 3-match ODI series 1-0 as well.
