3rd ODI match of Nelson Mendela series 2015 between India and South Africa at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot. South Africa won the match by 18 runs and led the 5-match series 2-1. Morne Morkel (South Africa) picked up 4 wickets and he declared man of the match. Q de Kock (South Africa) also played well and contributed 103 runs.

South Africa won the toss and elected to bat first. South African wicketkeeper batsman Q de Kock played supeb inning of 103 runs and F du Plessis contributed well 60 runs and managed to put good totals of 270 runs for India in 50 overs. Spiners bowled well for India and Harbhajan, A Patel and A Mishra picked up 1 wicket each. MM Sharma was expensive but took 2 wickets for India.

Following target of 271 runs, India lost S Dhawan early scoring 13 runs. V Kohli joined with RG Sharma and took the charge in hand. Both played well and kept wickets in hand for few overs. RG Sharma contributed well 65 runs before he lodt his wicket. Skipper Dhoni promoted him on no. 4 and played slow cricket in middle overs with V Kohli. He made 47 runs before he lost his wicket. Virat Kohli contributed well 77 runs before got out in hurry to follow the higher required run rate. AM Rahane and SK Raina failed today and could not stood in middle for long. Lower order batsmen could not follow the higher requied run rates and at last India lost the match by 18 runs and South Africa led the 5-match series 2-1.
