Match 18 : DA Warner's 163 & MR Marsh's 121 runs followed by Zampa's 4 wickets powered Australia to upset Pakistan by 62 runs
18th Match of ICC ODI Cricket World Cup 2023 played between Australia vs Pakistan at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on Friday, October 20, 2023.
Putting into bat first by Pakistan, Australia got comfident start with DA Warner & MR Marsh. Both added huge 259 runs for the 1st wicket before Mitchell Marsh got out scoring superb 108 ball 121 runs. David Warner also played wonderful inning of 124 balls 163 runs as well. Other middle and lower order batsmen faild to keep momentun on and still Australia managed to set very huge target of 368 runs for Pakistan to get. Shaheen Shah Afridi bowled very well and took 5 wickets of 54 runs. Haris Rauf was expensive but took 3 wickets of 83 runs.
Following huge target of 368 runs, Pakistan got good start with Abdullah Shafique and Imam-ul-Haq initially. Imam-ul-Haq made 70 runs and Abdullah Shafique contributed well 64 runs. Mohammad Rizwan also played good innig of 46 runs but other lower order batsmen failed to follow higher required run rates and Pakistan team all out scoring 305 runs and lost the match by 62 runs. Adam Zampa took 4 wickets. David Warner declared man of the match for his 163 runs.
