Match 1 : Fazalhaq Farooqi's 3 for 11 and Spiner's killer bowling powered Afghanistan to crush Sri Lanka by 8 wkts

1st twenty20 match of Cricket Asia Cup 2022 played between Sri Lanka vs Afghanistan at Dubai Sports City Stadium, Dubai on Saturday, August 27, 2022.

Putting into bat first by Afghanistan, Sri Lanka with very poor batting performances managed to set small target of 106 runs for Afghaniastan to get. Bhanuka Rajapaksa with 38 runs and Chamika Karunaratne with 31 runs were top scorers for Sri Lanka. Fazalhaq Farooqi bowled well and took 2 wickets of 11 runs. Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Mohammad Nabi also picked up 2 wickets each for Afghanistan as well.

Following small target of 106 runs, Afghanistan with Hazratullah Zazai's 37* and Rahmanullah Gurbaz's 18 balls 40 runs made chase easily in 10.1 overs and won the match cpmprehensively by 8 wickets. Fazalhaq Farooqi declared man of the match for his superb spell 3.4-1-11-3.
