1st T20i : Arshdeep with 3 for and DL Chahar's 2 wkts followed by KL Rahul & Suryakumar's fifties led India to upset Africa by 8 wkts

1st twenty20 international match of t20i match series played between India vs South Africa at Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday, September 28, 2022.

Putting into bat first by India, South Africa with very poor batting performances managed to score just 106 runs in 20 overs. At One stage Afica were 5 for 9 runs in 2.3 overs. Aiden Markram with 25 runs, Wayne Parnell's 24 runs and Keshav Maharaj's sensible 41 runs led Africa to play all 20 overs and set 107 runs target for India to get. Arshdeep Singh with 3 wkts, Deepak Chahar & Harshal Patel with 2 wickets each were top bowlers for India.

Following small target of 107 runs, India lost Rohit and Virat early on team score 17 runs. KL Rahul and SA Yadav took the charge in hand and played sensiblr cricket. KL Rahul smashed his 19 t20i fifty with 51* runs and Suryakumar also smashed quick 33 balls 50 runs to present India wonderful win by 8 wickets. Arshdeep Singh declared man of the match for his 3 wickets. India led 3-match series 1-0 as well.
