B Kumar's 5 wkts haul & Kohli's 100 ton powered India to out-played Sri Lanka by 6 wkts and sweep series 5-0

5th one-day international match of five ODI match series between Sri Lanka and India played on 3rd September 2017 at R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. Opting to bat first, Sri Lanka managed to put 238 runs in 49.4 overs. HDRL Thirimanne 67 runs and AD Mathews 55 runs were top scorers for Sri Lanka. B Kumar took 5 wickets for India. India in reply with excellent batting performances won the math by 6 wickets with 21 balls remaining. V Kohli smashed back to back 2nd ODI hundred and remainid not out scoring 110 runs. B Kumar declared man of the match for his career best figures 9.4-0-42-5.

Earlier, Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to bat first. Sri Lanka lost N Dickwella, EMDY Munaweera and skipper WU Tharanga early in 10th overs on team score 63/3. HDRL Thirimanne and AD Mathews played good sensible cricket for Sri Lanka in middle overs and put score on 195 runs in 39th over before Thirimanne got out scoring well 67 runs. Mathews also followed him scoring well 55 runs. Other lower orders faild to bat well and Sri Lankan team all out scoring 238 runs in 49.4 overs. B Kumar bowled well for India and picked up 5 wickets of his 9.4 overs spending 42 runs.

Following taget of 239 runs, India also lost both opening batsmen AM Rahane 5 and RG Sharma 16 early. Skipper Kohli and MK Pandey came in middle and took the charge in hand for India. Both played well and added 99 runs for 3rd wicket before MK Pandey got out scoring 36 runs. KM Jadav joined with Kohli and he also played excellent cricket in middle overs for India. He completed his fifty and Virat Kohli also completed his 30th century as well. This was Kohli's back to back 2nd hundred in 2 consecutive ODIs against Sri Lanka. KM Jadhav got out scoring well 63 runs when just 2 runs needed to win. MS Dhoni came in middle and did the rest for India. Kohli smashed winning short and remaining unbeaten scoring 110 runs. India won the 5-match series 5-0 and clean sweeps Sri Lanka for the first time at their home.
