1st ODI : Shikhar Dhawan's 97 with Shubman & Shreyas' fifties led India to set 309 runs target and upset West Indies by 3 runs

1st oneday international match of odi match series played between West Indies vs India at Queen's Park Oval, Port of Spain on Friday, July 22, 2022.

Putting into bat first by West Indies, India got wonderful start with skipper S Dhawan and Shubman Gill. Shubman got runs out scoring well 53 balls 64 runs. S Dhawan also played superb inning of 99 balls 97 runs. SS Iyer made 54 runs. India were 230/3 in 35.5 overs. Other middle order batsmen failed to kept momentun on and played slow cricket in last 14 overs. India still managed to set huge target of 309 runs for West Indies to get. Alzarri Joseph and Gudakesh Motie took two wickets each for West Indies.

Following huge target of 309 runs, West Indies lost Sai Hope early scoring 7 runs. Kyle Mayers and Shamarh Brooks took the charge in hand for WI and played superb innings of 75 and 46 runs respectively. Brandon King also played good inning of 54 runs. In 50th over, West Indies required 15 runs to win and managed to score 11 runs and lost the match by thin margin of 3 runs. Siraj, Thakur and Chahal took 2 wickets each. Shikhar Dhawan declared man of the match for his 97 runs. India led 3-match series 1-0 as well.
