Super Eights Match 50 : Sahibzada Farhan's century knock and Abrar's 3 for 23 led Pakistan to win over Sri Lanka by 5 runs
50th match of 2026 ICC t20 Worldcup super eights stage played between Sri Lanka vs Pakistan at Pallekele Cricket Stadium, Kandy on Saturday, February 28, 2026.
Putting into bat first, Pakistan got very good start with Sahibzada and Fakhar initially. Both added 176 runs in 15.5 overs before Fakhar Zaman got out scoring well 42 balls 84 runs. Sahibzada Farhan also played superb inning of 60 balls 100 runs and helps Pakistan to set huge target of 213 runs for Sri Lanka to get. Dilshan Madushanka bowled well and took 3 wickets.
Following huge target of 213 runs, Sri Lanka lost five wickets scoring 101 runs in 12 overs. Later on Pavan Rathnayake with 37 balls 58 runs and Dasun Shanaka with firing 31 balls 76* runs fought very hard but managed to score 207/6 in 20 overs and lost the match by 5 runs margin. Abrar Ahmed bowled well and took 3 wickets of 23 runs. Sahibzada Farhan declared man of the match for his 100 runs. Unfortunately, Both teams Pakistan and Sri Lanka are out from 2026 ICC T20 World Cup. England and New Zealand qualify for Semi Finale from Group -2.
