2nd ODI Match Report (New Zealand v India)

2nd One Day Match : Second ODI of 5 match series between New Zealand and India were played at Seddon Park, Hamilton today. New Zeland with all round performances registered win in 2nd consecutive match of ODI series 2014.

Ealier, MS Dhoni skipper of India won the Toss and decided to put New Zealand into bat first, and let them to set target for India. New Zealand openers Guptill and Ryder started inning slowly and confidently, but Ryder lost his wicket early scoring 20 runs in 6th over. KS Williamson joined with Guptill and played superb inning of 77 runs. He was stump by MS Dhoni of RA Jadeja's ball. Next coming batsman LRPL Taylor also played useful innig of 57 runs for New Zealand. Dhoni caught him of Sami's ball. In later overs CJ Anderson again played stroming inning of 44 runs of just 17 balls with 5 massive sixes and 2 fantastic fours. Match was cut to 42 overs per side and New Zealand managed to put huge score of 271 runs at the end of 42 overs. India needed 297 runs to win the match as per D/L mathod.

Following huge target of 297 runs, India lost Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan very early. Virat Kohli joined with AM Rahane and kept wickets in hand for few overs. Both played sensible cricket and build-up very good partnership. Unfortunately, Rahane lost his wicket scoring 36 runs. MS Dhoni joined with Virat Kohli. But, Kohli lost his wicket scoring 78 useful runs of 65 balls. Raina joined with skipper Dhoni and played quick inning of 35 runs of just 22 balls. MS Dhoni played aggrassive inning of 56 runs of 44 balls. Other lower order batsmen could not play fast innings and India lost the match by 15 runs D/L method. New Zealand led the 5-match series 2-0.

KS Williamson (New Zealand) declared man of the match for his superb inning of 77 runs of 87 balls.
